I love this raw vegan avocado mousse. Love is an understatement. Naturally sweetened and flavoured with orange, this is so yummy. Guess how long it took to make this? 7 minutes. I timed it. And the ingredient list is concise as well. Takes just 6 ingredients plus salt. You don’t need to even refrigerate it if you use fruits from the fridge. It is Orange season in Sydney. I sometimes buy a kilo for less than $2 and make fresh orange juice. Thanks to Vitamix. I had some leftover orange juice. So, I used this in the pudding and it was GREAT.
Guys, if you are reading this from the northern hemisphere, send the sun here please. We need it here, I need it here. There is just this one spot in one of the bedrooms in my cozy apartment that gets the sun-full strength. I sit there for an hour at that sun-spot, just taking all the sunlight I can.
And also, I’m going to have my very very first snowy Christmas this year. Yep, UK it is <3. Booked our tickets. I have heard that there are great vegan eateries in London. If you think there is a place- I must not miss dining at, please comment below. Would love to hear some suggestions.
Last year, Christmas was an unforgettable experience. We were at NZ, biking across the country. I did my 65K bike ride and got sun-burnt because there were only 2 trees across the entire route. I thought Indian skin was invincible. Nope, it wasn’t. My skin was pink and brown at the same time. I looked like an alien. The next day, I was getting some gels for the burn from a pharmacy. The guy at the counter apologised but he couldn’t stop laughing at me.Christmas it was, so I forgave him. I looked so funny, I couldn’t help laughing at myself. The entire holiday, we spent cancelling most of the bookings cos I had to stay indoors. I can’t wait to see what snow has in store for me this year 🙂
Most of the recipes on the internet uses coconut cream or cashew cream. I have used banana instead. So this is a nut-free version as well. Here you go with the recipe,
You need:
- Orange juice-1/4 cup + 1 Tbsp
- Orange zest-1/2 tsp
- Medjool dates-10 (the orange zest makes it so bitter, so you need more dates to balance out)
- Raw Cacao powder-2 Tbsp
- Banana-2 large
- Avocado-1 small/medium
- Salt-a pinch
- Carob powder-1 tsp [Optional]
- Lemon juice-1 tsp [Optional – Balances the tartness of orange]
Method:
- Add everything to a food processor and process until they come together.
- Transfer to ramekins and serve chilled.
Notes:
- Taste check with the above recipe, if you think there needs to be extra cacao, add a tsp in.
- Also, add some vanilla for some extra kick.
- If it turns out to be not-very sweet, easiest fix is adding a Tbsp of coconut nectar/agave/maple syrup in.
- If you think, it is not Orange’y’ enough, add another 1/4 cup of orange juice. Watch out for the quantity. You don’t want this mousse to be runny.

I really like this idea of such a wholesome chocolate pudding…I have a lot of dates on hand and will give this a try.
By the way, I loved the NZ space invaders bike ride story! And sorry, no can do with lending you the sun…we need every second of its fleeting appearance up here! 🙂
Lol 🙂 Oh no! When it is summer here, I swear I’m going to ping you back 😛
This looks so good omfg! I’ve been looking for a recipe for this for quite a while!
Keep up the great work!
Thanks Lauren
