Welcome to Yes, I’m Vegan 🙂 Thanks for visiting my blog.
I am a lass from Sydney who is very much fond of food which resulted in being overweight almost all my life. I have a loving husband -Sanju, an amazing family and great friends who helped me through all these years standing beside me through thick & thin. I reached a whopping 95 kilos in 2012 and was nearing a three digit figure. I have always been vegetarian, no alcohol ever and still managed to be Obese.
Then, out of blue, I decided I didn’t want to look that way anymore. Okay, not out of blue. People were assuming I was preggy offering me seats in train and it hurt. Real bad. I met up with this amazing doc who confirmed I was having PCOS (Poly Cystic Ovaries) and that was the reason for my weight. Next day, I signed up for a gym membership, after a month, checked my weight, I was 2 kilos heavier. World came crashing down under my feet. I was upset that despite my hard work, tears and sweat, I had put on weight.
Went to the doc again and she suggested to go vegan and go on with my exercise routine.
Guess what, the first week, I lost 7.5 kilos-just vegan and no exercise and weight just kept disappearing. I dropped down to 85 kilos and it reached the stagnant part of the curve and then it was the same. It was happening again-something looked like it was working but it did not.
My mind was giving up, quitting, as usual telling me to be the way I was before and not care about the vegan crap. I was crying like a baby begging Sanju to take me out for a ‘Paneer’ dinner. I have an Indian background-all I wanted was Paneer (cottage cheese) for dinner. I had Paneer entree, mains, curry and dessert. Came back home-my body couldn’t take it. I threw up like never before-toxins, they were I realised.
I watched this documentary about being vegan- Gary Yourofsky’s. That’s it- I couldn’t be vegetarian anymore. Milk-no way. Taking away calf from a cow so we could have milk. I stopped dairy completely and joined this weight loss program and I didn’t lose weight all at once-took me a while-taking me a while I should say. I am now around 68-72 kilos (fluctuates) and still going good. Been vegan for 3 years. I am thinking about taking up some running.
The reason for putting this blog up is to show the world vegan food isn’t bad as people think it is. It is tasty, colourful and healthy. You will find restaurant reviews, recipes and vegan living in general.
In my blog, you won’t find any processed ingredients and no caloric values- Food is happiness. Not Math. All the recipes are vegan & gluten-free.
Happy Eating and be kind to everyone.
